How It Works
How do we get all this done? First you need to choose the pictures you want in your book and how many you will want on each page of your 20 (or more) page book. You might choose some pictures that are very special and deserve their own page, while others will be grouped together in 2-4 or even more on a page. Please remember the more on a page, the smaller they will be and the fewer other elements can be added to the page.
Next decide if you want a special theme for your page layouts such as a special holiday, vacation to a certain place, baby girl/boy, heritage, wedding etc. If you do not have any ideas along this line, you can choose to let the designer choose the layouts and colors for the photos you want scrapped. You will also choose how many page kits (what is a page kit) you would like used in your book. Some people choose one kit, while others choose a different kit for every page. The more kits you use, the more variety/themes you will have.
The next thing to do is decide on journaling for each picture or page. You do not have to have journaling, but it really makes each page special if the reader knows what the picture represents or the feelings you were having when it was taken. Quotes, poetry or just special thoughts are great! If you cannot think of what to say, your designer can suggest things for you.
Then you will send your pictures to us. This can be done in one of several ways. You can upload them to us over the internet, send them to us on a CD or if you live close by you can come by and we can do all of this in person. If you do not have your pictures on your computer, you can send them to us, but I highly advise against this as it would be horrible if they got lost in the mail and you did not have copies. Should you decide to provide hard copy prints for your book, there will be an additional charge of 50 cents each for scanning each picture to digital form. It is very important that your pictures be the highest resolution possible, preferably 300dpi. This means you should have your camera set for the highest resolution (lowest number of prints). If you are scanning your pictures, be sure to scan them at 300 dpi. If you are having old black and white images from your parents early days scrapped, it may be difficult to get clear prints for your book. We will attempt to pump up the resolution as much as possible, and you can decide if the quality is good enough for your book. Sometimes part of the charm of old photos is they are not perfect, but have that antique kind of look. Many old photos come out beautiful, especially if we use a sepia filter on them.
Once the pages are complete, you will be given a special private URL that will take you to a scrapbook preview page so you can see your pages before they are uploaded to the printer. Here we can make any changes you feel are needed.
Your pages are then sent to be printed and bound into your choice of albums. You may want to choose one special page to have printed on the front of your book such as the ones you see on this page. Your book will be sent to you directly from the printer. Shipping charges will be calculated and added by the printer.
